2009 10k Event Information
Thank you for your interest in our event.
The event is organised and hosted by Llanelli Triathlon Club and supported by Carmarthenshire County Council.
The official charity for 2009 is Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The race will be held under UK Athletics rules.
The entry fee to the event is £10 if affiliated to Welsh Athletics or £12 if not affiliated.
There will be NO ENTRIES on the day.
The event is suitable for Runners and Power Walkers. For 2009 the entries are limited to 1200 participants.
RACE NUMBERS, timing chip and event information will be sent by post approximately 1 week before the event (Please supply your own safety pins).
Postal entry to the event closes on the 17th June; online entry also closes on the 17th June.
Entry to the event can be made online at Runners World. Entries can also be made via post with a race entry form. Universal entry forms are also accepted. Payment for postal entries should be made by cheque; the cheque should be made payable to - Llanelli 10k . Address details for postal entries can be found here.
Race packs will be despatched in the week preceeding the event. Please note there will be some instances where race packs will be picked up on the moring of the event; we will inform the applicable participants if this is required.
The start is adjacent to the water park on the Millennium Coastal Path and the finish is at the Millennium Coastal Park Festival Fields (event headquarters).
Parking will be at the event headquarters. Parking is free, however all parking of vehicles is at the owner’s risk.
Toilets are at the event headquarter.
To minimise any delays please be AT LEAST 1 HOUR EARLY.
The children's races will begin at 9:30am. The 10k run will start at approximately 11:00am and will take place in a safe traffic free environment within the beautiful and scenic Millennium Coastal Path. The event will be marshaled and first aid cover will be provided by St. John Ambulance.
The course will be on tarmac surface and is considered flat with a few mild undulations.
There will be kilometer markers and two water stations are on route. Water will also be provided at the finish.
Due to the the fact that the run is along an exposed coastline, it is advisable to bring suitable clothing to possibly wear during the run to safeguard against the possible conditions. High factor sun cream. sun glasses and cool-wear clothing is advisable if high temperature sunny weather is predicted. Participants should bring a change of clothing and waterproof clothing in case of poor weather.
There are 4 categories for both male and female participants. Senior (below 40 years) V40, V50 and V60 for the men, senior (below 35 years) V35, V45 and V55 for the women.
Prizes will be awarded to the first male, first female and first wheelchair athletes to cross the line. Trophies will be awarded to the first three to finish in each of the categories. There will be an event mementot for all adult finishers.
Prizes and trophies not collected on the day will become void.
Numbers must be worn on the front. The CHAMPION CHIP must be worn as per instructions that will be sent to each participant. Failure to wear or incorrectly wear the chip will result in no timing being recorded for the applicable participant.
There will be an announcement 10 minutes prior to the start of the event; when participants must report to the start line of their event. A safety de-brief will be given at this time.
At the race finish participants are encouraged to leave the finish area as quickly as possible.
Winning race results will be provided at the prize giving ceremony soon after the main event has finished. All other race results will be posted onto the event web site or posted if requested at point of entry.
There will be light refreshments available at the event to include teas, coffees, soft drinks light snacks, various sweets and ice cream.
