Zaphod Beeblebrox - Runners World

In short: Excellent all round

Em The Plod - Runners World

In short: Still too hot but great race and fun for all family, no medal?
In full: Earlier start would be better and more water at the end! Cups instead of bottles on the course and bottles at end would be better way round otherwise organised tip top you dont get much better than Llanelli 10k, apart from the 1/2 marathon same place!!Well done see you next year, praying for rain!

Henry VIII - Runners World

In short: One or two minor point for improvement but as races go and I have run many and organised a few the Llanelli 10k was top class.
In full:
PLUS POINTS
Superb organisation,
Excellent value for money with lots of free goodies and mementos,
Event kept to schedule,
Beautiful scenery along the coastline,
Excellent support from the marshals,
Bottles of water in place of flimsy useless cups,
Good race for the novice and regular runner,
Reasonably flat course with bouncy tarmac so dependent on weather a PB is possible,
Course is traffic free,
Quick turn-round of results
Good prizes for the adults and kids,
Kiddies races a great plus,
Good, friendly atmosphere suitable for families,
Great Facilities and good entertainment for the kids,
Good high profile from first aid support,
Event in support of well known charity,
Lots of information about the event available from their website.

POINTS to IMPROOVE - all minor
It would have been nice to have seen the starter and PA person, - perhaps a raised platform required, also instruction at start not quite loud enough,
More warning of wheelchair athletes on course,
Runners to keep on one side all way around course - logically in this event, on the right hand side,
Smoother turn around points required – use of additional cones to solve,
Smarter distribution of water and t-shirts at end,
Event officials to be more easily identified.

In general the event really spoiled us compared to others and I am sure that all points for improvement will be in place for next year.

Well done and will definitely be back next year.

Welsh Poppy - Runners World

In short: NIce and Scenic
In full: Each year it gets better plenty of Toilets,But an early start would be great for the 10k main race .beautiful Scenary plenty of parking spots a family day out with the kiddies races before hand.
I keep coming back and next year will be no exception.

Severn - Runners World

In short: The event with a major feel good factor
In full: The organisers deserve tons & tons of praise. This has got to be one of the best events around; the organisers have really created something special not just for the runners but also for their families.

The kids were well entertained (mainly for free) they even had free drawings made of them which we will frame and show with pride and as a great memory of the day.

Other races please note there is a lot to be learned from the Llanelli 10k.

Well done and thank you

Nick P - Runners World

In short: A well organised and fun event with nice touches.
In full: I thought I'd do this race as it coincided with a choir practice that I was travelling down from Oxfordshire for. I'm glad I entered it because it was a great event. There were plenty of toilets and hardly any queues and we even had chip timing. It was also fun to watch the children's events. Stars of the future.

Overall, well worth the trip down the M4

Cheddar - Runners World

In short: A real gem - Perfect
In full: If you do any race do this one. This deserves to be in the top 10 uk list.

Was perfectly organised from moment of entry to end of race.

Well done to the Llanelli 10k Team.

P.s. Like the web site too

Push Plod - Runners World

In short: Another first timer at the Llanelli 10k
In full: I am a keen power walker and I initially had reservations in travelling from Manchester to take part in this event. I have walked many times our local Race for Life series and I have done the Moonwalk twice in addition to a number of other running events that also caters for us power walkers. On arrival in Llanelli the day before my boyfriend and I found our way to the coast where the event was to take place. My first thoughts were that my decision to travel to this part of South Wales was correct. The coastline and the millennium park were outstanding. We could see that the area was already being prepared for the 10k so we decided to get back to the Hotel for a good nights rest.

On the Sunday the event seemed to go like clockwork everything was so smooth and relaxed. I lined at the back of the field thinking I may be the only walker taking part. The race started and to my pleasant surprise there were many other walkers around me. The course was fantastic - traffic free smooth bouncy tarmac with a few minor undulations. The support we had from the marshals was second to none. Even though the numbers of participants were small in comparison to other events I'd taken part in my opinion the atmosphere was as good or perhaps even better. I rounded the corner to the finish line and although my time was slow to that of a runner I still received a great round of applause from the spectators a cheer from the guy with a mic and plenty more encouragement for the other event officials. There was even a row of cheer-girls helping me on.

I had a fantastic time and this memory will last with me for ever.

Thank you, thank you to those who put all this together. I will definitely be coming back next year and will bring a group of power walking friends with me.

Twinz - Runners World

In short: Just Brilliant

Matt Tooze - Runners World

In short: My second Llanelli 10k saw a faster time in humid conditions so i am pleased. The course is scenic and with a couple of 'undulations' chucked in for good measure was not boring !
In full: Better than last year, more than one toilet for a start ! Only minor problem was the 9k to finish stretch with runners unsure whether to run on right or left.
Excellent support from marshalls and crowd.

Emma - email

Thanks for a great organised race on Sunday

Nick - email

Firstly, I would like to thank the organisers & marshals for a very enjoyable race on Sunday.  It was well organised and fun and it was great to see the children's races as well.  It was certainly worth the trip down the M4 from 'across the water'.

Paul W - email

10k Sunday - brill day thanks - really well organised - course is great - race commentator really encouraging for everyone - all the hard work appreciated thanks

Bryan - email

Hi ya what a great race...much better this year...

Georgina - email

I would just like to congratulate everyone responsible for organising yesterdays 10k run.  Once we finally arrived (the instructions were a little confusing, but at least provided in car entertainment for my 13 year old son and I - we had left plenty of time - and as we got nearer the signs were very clear and helpful), it was great to have good parking facilities and to see the long row of toilets ( I had unhappy memories of last years long queues for just a couple of toilets! ).

It was lovely to watch the children's races with such supportive commentary. The weather was wonderful, and the only complaint was that there appeared to be no sea breeze at all - but with the best will in the world, I'm sure you can't do anything about that! The course was hard, but it certainly helped having cheery marshals en route, and the water provided was a huge bonus.  It was really lovely to hear the continuous encouraging commentary as people finished the race and the free massage afterwards was great. It really felt as though everyone was given a lot of support - congratulations and many thanks.

Gill - email

Had a really good day yesterday.

Steve - email

Very well done for yesterday. I reckon you must have been exhausted at the end of the day!

I thought the whole event was a league ahead of last year's race.
Everything was better - the positioning of the whole event (much better than last year's Pwll site), the number of quality runners attracted, the very close parking, the toilets!, the junior course (although it would have been better if the showground amusement vehicles were not in the way for viewing), the PA, etc. You've certainly got the formula right now.

Congratulations

Owain - email

Great race - will be back next year.

Angela - email

Please pass my thanks to all the support team for all the hard work and their personnel time, and well done to you for to organisation the race.

Grant - email

Bok99 - Runners World

In short: A extra special event in Llanelli
In full: Picture this: It’s Sunday the sun is shining it’s a glorious day, I’m thinking oh no, what am I doing? I am going to bust a gut at a 10k running event 120 miles from home then travel back late in the day possibly with blisters on my feet, salt encrusted skin with severe sunburn and worst of all I’m going to miss the England match. That’s all I have to do is stay at home have a leisurely lie in, then at a respectable time enjoy a nice breakfast before doing absolutely nothing except preparing the BBQ for a pre-match burger and a super chilled bottle of beer.

I decide to go to the 10k!!!

Boy am I glad I went? – Who would want to sit at home when they can take part in an event as excellent as the Llanelli 10k? My family and I had made a previous visit to the town for me to take part in the first ever Llanelli ½ Marathon and we saw some of the beauty of the coastline then, but in full sunshine the coastal park was twice as good.

I thoroughly enjoyed my run and my kids took part in the fun runs and thought they were great. There were so much to do (other events please take note!). I finished middle of the field so was able to soak up more of the wonderful atmosphere when watching the remaining runners and walkers cross the finishing line. We were on a high returning home after our fantastic day out.

Thank you to the organisers and your super marshals.

Smiff - Runners World

In short: Way better than last year - well done
In full: Marshals you were brilliant; your encouragement was just what the doctor ordered.

A note to the organisers –
We runners take for granted the hard work and effort you put into an event. We don’t feel the stress, and sweat that you must feel through the preparation of the event. But I for one am very glad that people like you exist. Without your efforts none of these top class events would exist.

Many thanks and well done and please continue to give us days to remember.

The Coach 2 - Runners World

In short: novices take it easy and enjoy the day!! you'll never forget it!! IT'S POSSIBLY THE BEST IN WALES
In full: FANTASTIC, ONLY MINOR FAULT'S ARE CRISSCROSSING OF RUNNERS IN ACOUPLE OF PLACES..
I WAS TOLD IT WAS MILDLY UNDULATED...THIS I FOUND A BIT OF AN UNDERSTATEMENT ...NOT MANY FLATS IS HOW I'D PUT IT...THIS WAS A LOT MORE UPS AND DOWNS THAN I THOUHGT IT WOULD BE..BUT THE WHOLE RACE WAS REALLY PUT TOGETHER WELL. WATER EVERY 2K WOULD BE IDEAL FOR MYSELF AS IT WAS I OPTED TO CARRY THE BOTTLE AS LONG AS POSS.
BOTTLED WATER FANTASTIC IDEA, CUPS ARE POINTLESS.
MY TEAM WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING IT AGAIN ...SHAME THERE'S NOT ANOTHER ONE THERE BEGINING OF OCTOBER....GETTING THERE WAS OK JUST, WE MADE IT BUT WE DID SET OUT NICE AND EARLY.PLUS POINTS TOILETS, MARKERS, ATMOSPHERE AND SUPPORT FROM MARSHALLS, STJOHNS ETC , BRILLIANT SURROUNDINGS ...ANY BAD POINTS WILL PROBABLY BE ADDRESSED FOR NEXT YEAR...A SMALL MEDAL AS WELL AS T-SHIRT WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT.
BUT IF YOUR LIKE ME ..JUST MAKE A MEDAL OUT OF THE TIMING CHIP...WELLDONE EVERYBODY

Amy Worrell - Runners World

short: Fantastic day. Plenty of support and very well organized.

Jabber - Runners World

In short: Spot on - I wish more events were like this
In full: I guess the heat would have put pay to most people’s chances of a PB but is that all we race for? This event just like the Llanelli 1/2 Marathon they also organise was brilliant. There are one or two minor points for improvement but my judgment on the organisers is that they will probably already have penciled in the improvements for next year.

I am already looking forward to entering their 2007 events.

Thank you to the organisers, the marshals and all the other event support

P.S. Keep up the good work in your efforts to help Macmillan Cancer Support

Jenks Jinx - Runners World

In short: A fantastic 10k and a cracking family day out on the beautiful South Wales coast
In full: We were on holiday in the area and thought we would fit this event into the last day of our fortnight away.

This event has probably created one of our fondest memories. The coastal scenery they have in Llanelli is gorgeous and they are very lucky to have such beauty around them.

Anyway back to the event – truly remarkable. Where else these days can you pay only £10 to enter a 10k race and only £3 for the kiddies runs and then have so much given to you. Free kiddies face painting, entertainment, caricatures, sports massage, t-shirts for the adults, t-shirts and medals for the kids, superb prizes for the winners and the list goes on.

This is one event our family will be very eager to return to next year. Great organisation, very friendly marshals and more than we would have ever expected.

Well done to the organisers and we will see you in 2007

Boffin - Runners World

In short: Gets better year on year :)
In full: Well done, superb race :) Despite the rises, this is a PB course - so long as the weather is willing! I liked the new start/finish - much better than previous years. The wider track allowed for a cleaner get away from the start.

Perhaps two points to improve upon: 1) more marshalls on the final water station, perhaps two stations either side for ease? 2) an earlier start - 11am? for the 10k as can be hot this time of year. Alternatively run the main 10k before the fantastic fun runs??

The children and ourselves will be back again next year :)

DaiHard - Runners World

In short: A MASSIVE thumbs up and thank you to the organisers and marshals
In full: I have taken part in this event on all previous occasions and this has been by far the best yet. The organisers have made many excellent improvements. The whole day ran very smoothly and it allowed us runners to stay as calm and relaxed as possible. It might just be me but the marshals were far more friendly and organised than in previous years; perhaps they have now got used to the routine.

Again many thanks for giving us a special day

Ems Angel - Runners World

In short: Absolutely magnificent - one of the best ever
In full: Where do I start? To attend a race and run in a well organised 10k is one hopeful expectation but the Llanelli 10k went way beyond this. This was a high class event not just a race. Everything about the event was superbly organised and the atmosphere was electric. We as runners would be hard pushed to find any other event which catered for us “and our families” so well. Besides the races for our children and the superbly set main 10k race the event had so many other attractions it was just incredible. There was FREE children’s entertainment, a FREE caricature artist; my husband and I enjoyed a FREE sports massage. There was also a funfair for the kids, food vans and many other first class amenities.

Well done to the organisers, and our thanks also goes to the many marshals that were out on the course giving us lots of encouragement and looking after us in the sun. We will definitely be back next year.

Kev Joyce - Runners World

In short: Fast, flat-ish, superb organisation. Family friendly. Outstanding scenery. See you all next year!!
In full: Overcast and cloudy until an hour before the start, sunny and hot thereafter!!!
A first-timer at this event, with a few 10Ks in the bank, looked forward to it, and it surpassed my expectations. Undulations in the course were not exactly a "rope & crampons" job, but added to the challenge, especially those in the last few Km.
Congrats to the organisers, cracking job. Superb to see the kid's races too, the future of our great sport. See you all next year.

Tom P - Runners World

In short: Excellent
In full: A really brilliant day out racing - even better than last year and worth the trip from Cardiff. Pretty hot, but managed with bottles of water along the way. Seemed to be really well organised and was particularly excellent for my family having things to do whilst I ran. Toilets! So many it beggars belief. I always moan about the toilets and it's a welcome relief to be able to pee exactly when I wanted to! Very well done to all! A great day out. See you next year.

Straycelt - Runners World

In short: Better start, growing race, calendar event
In full: Start much improved and better organised. Burger van, kids entertainment,(mainly free including face painting, caricatures, bouncy castles) free massage. Water at 4k and 8k would have been better at 3.5 and 7. ran short at the end. Disappointed no medal this year and ran out of L and x-l t-shirts by 555 min finish so lot of figure hugging t-shirts may be on view later. Preferred the less congested start, but this flat course does have some sneaky undulates. Been doing this for last few years and just gets bigger and better. Yet again a cracking day if somewhat hot to be chasing a PB, but well worth the trip across. Will be back

Sospan Fawr - Runners World

In short: Excellent start / finish position , good atmosphere , hot again this year , but again , just like the half marathon , excellent organisation and location. WELL DONE to the organisers.

Welsh Alex - Runners World

In short: Glorious on the Millennium Coastal Path In full: New start this year with plenty of parking and more toilets than you can shake a stick at. Family races first excellent vantage points for spectators who can see the start, middle and end of the race from one place. A beer tent and a burger van at the end would have gone down well. Amusements there for kids, St Johns and nice race T-shirts for first 500.
